3rd Gen iPod gets games and more.Available in 10 GB, 15GB and 30GBFeaturing a 4200 RPM ATA-66 hard drive similar to some Sony(tm) micro-notebooks. The larger capacity 30GB held 7500 songs encoded in 128-Kbps AAC format. The more rounded case still came in the two-tone white with a stainless steel back. Firewire and USB, this iPod came with a 'dock' for quick connection to a computer. The 3rd Generation iPod was thinner and lighter again. The dock offered audio out for connection to an external amplifier. The blue backlit display sucked less juice while the touch buttons lined up above the touch wheel. Battery life was down to an estimted 8 hours but the battery was smaller and lighter thanks to lithium-ion technology which is also cheaper than lithium-polymer. The operating system was improved, allowing users to customise the menus. The breakout game became a fixed feature of the OS along with pop quiz. Students everywhere benefited from the added alarm clock! |
