Who designed the original iPod?

This idea was from the mind of Tony Fadell, an independent contractor and hardware expert who'd helped develop handheld devices at General Magic and Philips. Apple CEO Steve Jobs molded the device's shape, feel and design and not many projects get that. In fact he was heavily involved in every single aspect of the project

In fact, the iPod is louder than most MP3 players because Steve Jobs is partly deaf! The technical team made it louder so he could hear it.

The Apple iPod Scroll Wheel combined a small Toshiba hard drive, a "Scroll Wheel" styled interface which drove a simple, easy-to-use operating system designed for mobile devices (based on Pixo OS 2.1). combine this with iTunes (based on SoundJam) and suddenly its never been easier to manage your music collection between the Mac and the iPod.

Originally using a 5 GB hard drive (the 10 GB option was available after March 21, 2002). The 5GB was capable of holding around 1000 songs in 160-Kbps MP3 format. Aside from a FireWire port and jack plug, a tiny hard-drive and a Lithium-polymer battery ( Continuous play saw 8 to 10 hours battery life on a full charge.) the iPod Scroll Wheel was housed in a two-tone 'iBook white' and stainless steel case with a 2-inch backlit LCD display.
